Kerbside Bin Services

Household rubbish is collected on Tuesday and Friday mornings. Commercial zone rubbish is collected six times a week. Please make sure your bin is out on the kerb early in the morning to avoid missing out.

Rubbish Tip

The Meekatharra Rubbish Tip is located off the Great Northern Highway North of town, the first left after the Goldfields Highway turn off and is open all hours. There are signs to direct you to the correct place to dump your rubbish. Disposals are free except for hazardous waste – contact the shire office for more information.

Damaged Bins

If you bin has been damaged please contact the Shire Office for a replacement or for the bin to be fixed, please note fees may apply.

Containers for Change

Containers for Change inspires a brigade of Western Australians united in the fight against the fill (landfill). Every 10c container returned to an authorised Containers for Change refund point gets another chance — rescued by you, recycled by us, and released to live its potential, again and again

Containers for Change Meekatharra is run by the ABC Foundation/Yulella Aboriginal Corporation on Marmont Street twice a week.

Meeka Goes Green

Meeka Goes Green is a local non-for-profit recycling centre in town run by volunteers. They operate every Saturday morning from 9am-11am on Railway Street, you are welcome to come along to drop off your recyclables and hang out with the team.
